Pretty Uglies (series 1)

This project explores the deconstruction and reconstruction of the human body through collage, drawing primarily on imagery sourced from physical media such as magazines. Using the process of photomontage, the work reimagines collage. Fragments of bodies originally presented as desirable are cut, displaced, and recombined into grotesque, hybrid figures.

Through this transformation, the  work interrogates beauty standards, consumer imagery, and the manipulation of the human form within visual culture. Ultimately, the project positions collage as both a disruptive and reflective practice, one that reveals the tensions between desire, identity, and representation.
